Ochun Waist Beads
Ochun Waist Beads
These waist beads are designed in honor of Ochun, the beautiful Orisha Goddess of love and flowing waters. If you’re not familiar with Orishas, they are a group of deities worshipped in the Yoruba religion, which originated in West Africa and spread to other parts of the world through the African diaspora. Ochun is one of the most well known Orishas, and is a part of the Seven African Powers.
💛 Ochun controls everything that flows, from rivers, to money, to love. She is the granter of wishes, grower of love, and giver of laughter. Similar to Yemaya, Ochun is associated with motherhood, abundance and fertility. She is also commonly known for her ability to heal, and is associated with herbalists. Her signs and symbols include: the colors yellow and gold, the numbers 5 and 15, oranges, sunflowers, honey, cinnamon, cowrie shells and peacocks.
✨Waist beads are a cultural tradition, originating in Africa, often worn as a symbol of femininity & fertility, to gauge weight, and for their healing powers. They come in a variety of colors, with each color corresponding to a specific healing property or intention. For example, blue is associated with the throat chakra and works to help one speak their truth and brings peace and harmony. Waist beads are great for anyone who is looking to boost their confidence, tap further into their feminine energy, or set intention to a manifestation!
Each of my waist beads come in a variety of colors and sizes and are handmade with intention and love. If you are interested in a custom set, you can find my customs post in the waist beads tab.
