This anklet is designed in honor of Yemaya, the Orisha Goddess of the Sea. This piece comes in a set of 2, and is perfect for those who like to honor her and would like an alternative to waist beads. If you’re not familiar with Orishas, they are a group of deities worshipped in the Yoruba religion, which originated in West Africa and spread to other parts of the world through the African diaspora. Yemaya is one of the most well known Orishas and she is a part of the Seven African Powers.

💙Yemaya is the goddess of the Sea, the Mother of all living thing, and the protector of mothers and children. She is associated with emotions, intuition, healing, fertility, and maternal love. Yemaya teaches you how to create abundance in your own life, and gives you protection along the way. She is often depicted as a mermaid, and her sign and symbols include: the colors blue, white and silver, the number is 7 (representing the Seven Seas), cowrie shells, pearls, and the Moon.

All of my anklets are handmade, beaded on stretchy cord. These anklets of course can also be used as bracelets, which is why I am offering them in various sizes. For reference, 9 in. is the average ankle size and the average wrist size is 7.5 in.
